Farouk Chi 1 Inch Ceramic is most likely the top seller as far as ceramic plate flat irons are concerned. This hair straightener can get hot in a few seconds and remains as hot as 410 degrees farenhiet. They designed it to be able to style and treat any amount of hair even the really long hair. You can get soft and shiny hair with one single pass through the ceramic plates, saving you a lot of time and money.
Do not waste your money on cheap generic versions from the department stores. They do not even compare with the Farouk Chi 1. These generic versions can fry your hair, pull it out or even not smooth it our properly. Many people spend lots of money buying and replacing the cheap flat irons, when they could have just purchased the origional version and saved themselves a lot of money in the long run.
Here’s one styling tip you can use with your Farouk Chi 1 Flat Iron, use the heating settingto help you really get the style you want. The thickness of your hair determines the temperatures that are right for your hair. A recent experiment has revealed that if you set your flat iron to 370 degrees it will work well for most types of hair. Adjust the temperature according to how thick, how heavy, how thin or how brittle your hair is using this temperature point as your guideline.
Until recently I always went to buy the less expensive flat irons ($20-$30 range) and finally made up my mind that I had had enough. I paid $80 for the Chi 1 flat iron which is valued at more than $110 at different retailers. Goodbye pony tail kinks at the end of the day. This does the trick.
I love it!

I love the CHI. My hair is really thick and I have experimented with other flat irons but they never do the job as well as the CHI.
Why buy any other flat iron?

This is definetely the “Rolls Royce” of flat irons. Why purchase another. It may initially look like its a bit overpriced, (and it is), but at the end of the day it’s well worth it. Fast, easy and idiot-proof, I got rid of all the other hair tools that I had when I got this, and your hair REMAINS straight all day.
Very Happy

Functions very well. gets hot very quickly. would recommend to anyone. The only problem I have is that you can not choose different temperatures to use it with.
Excellent

This flat iron is amazing. I had never ran into a really good hair straightener, until I got the Farouk. It is quick and easy to use. I have really thick hair, and this flat iron makes it straight it just a few minutes. I love it. It is definitely worth the price.
So have you ever wondered how the GVP (Generic Value Product) compares to the original Chi 1″ Flat Iron. A friend of mine has used Chi for many months, recently tried the GVP version and she says she sees no difference.
However the GVP flat iron comes with a temperature control and the ON/OFF switch. The electrical cord also seems longer which is 9 feet long compared to 8 feet. You can get the GVP version cheaper at almost half the price. The only thing that most people find difficult to do with it is curl the hair, but that is usually due to lack of technique.
She would recommend this for those people who can not afford to buy a Chi. She got hers on sale for like sixty bucks at a local store. However she says that if you have money to buy a Chi, you should go ahead and purchase one.
She also likes the handle color of the GVP version and the little rubber grooves at the top of each arm for putting your hards on so you do not burn your hands. The Chi does not have these. It heats up to 410 degrees and is constantly hot.
So in conclusion, there is nothing really bad about the cheaper GVP version. She thinks it is awesome and straightens the hair, keeping it pretty straight. If you have money for a Chi go buy one, but if you do not this is a really good alternative.
Let us talk a little bit about the Chi. I got mine for christmas from my older sister. But on Amazon it is about $70 and at a beauty store it is about $130. So first you just have to plug it into an outlet.
When you turn it on, you will see a red light flashing. That means it is ready to straighten your hair. My hair is naturally straight so I spend a lot of time trying to curl it.
To use the Chi flat iron take a strand of hair. Put it in between the two hot ceramic plates, clamp them together and then gently go up and down the strand of hair. As if you where brushing your hair, its the same motion. Just repeat it a couple of times so that you do not have any curls left in your hair.
When you are done, usually after 2 – 3 strokes, your hair will be straight and very soft. You can also use the Chi 1 to curl your hair.
